Effective Web Site Design
You only need to spend some time on the web to realize that many sites are have problem areas. It's also true that these problem areas are common to most well-know sites.
Here is my view of the typical problem areas:
Mindsets
Pictures
Navigation
Searching
‘Stickiness’
BACK button
For example, some problems associated with PICTURES are: too many pictures; slow for viewing/ downloading; hi-res pix = big files; poor graphic displays; pictures of pictures.
The BACK button is one of the most over-used keys on web sites. This is because sites fail in a number of areas: “you have 10-15 seconds to grab attention”, overloading information on the screen, and the speed of content loading (we users are not very patient!!!)
